The basic goal in Puck's Peak is to lead your chosen Puck to fulfill their mission of building a tower (or Peak) by stacking various shapes to dizzying heights. Along the way, you will not only unlock new realms to explore, but new and improved abilities for your Pucks - not to mention some extra-stylish fashion accessories!

Starting a New Game: Unlike most other Pogo games, Puck's Peak features a menu system that allows you to choose which combination of character and level of difficulty to play with. There are two ways to get started in this puzzle game.

Explore: After selecting this option, you'll first choose a realm to play in, followed by the Puck you wish to play with. Initially, only one realm and one Puck are available, so you won't really have a choice. However, as you unlock new realms you also unlock new Pucks, and you can play any unlocked Puck in any unlocked realm. In other words, even though Scratch is native to the Mountain realm, you can play with Scratch in any other realm you unlock (and vice-versa, of course).

Continue: This option is only available after playing your first game. Clicking this button will immediately start a game with the same Puck and in the same realm as your previous play session.

Picking Your Peak: When you first begin to explore, you'll be directed to choose a realm in which to build your tower. Initially, only one realm - Mountain - is available. However, as you continue to play, more realms (and Pucks) become unlocked. Each new realm is slightly more difficult than the last, with new shapes and varied starting platforms. At any time, you can mouse over the darkened (locked) realm icons to see how many Meters you must build in order to unlock them. For easy reference, your total number of Meters built is always shown in the lower right-hand corner of the "Pick A Peak" screen. Picking Your Puck: Once you've chosen the realm you wish to build in, you must then choose which Puck you'd like to build with. Your only choice at the beginning of the puzzle game is Scratch, but as you unlock more realms, you'll also unlock more Pucks. Each Puck has their own unique qualities that set them apart from each other, from the clothes they wear to their special abilities (check out the "Improve the Pucks" section for more details). Use the "Prev" and "Next" buttons to cycle through the carousel and choose the Puck you want to build with. Selecting a Target Tower Height: Now that you've decided on your combination of Puck and Peak, you have one more choice to make before starting the puzzle game online - how tall do you want to make your tower? Your options are always the same: 500 or 1000 Meters. Each mode awards a different number of Fairy Stars upon completion, which is displayed on each button - the taller the tower, the more Fairy Stars you get for completing it. As you advance through the realms, the number of Fairy Stars available for completing each tower height goes up (all the way to 11!). Note that if you select a Puck that's still locked, the buttons at the bottom of the screen will become inactive.

Here are some tips and tricks to playing this this towering puzzle game of Puck's Peak!

In order to be successful in the world of Puck's Peak, you must become adept at balancing (literally!) the shapes you're presented with and your chosen Puck's special ability. Together, your ability to plan ahead and, more importantly, to improvise when things don't necessarily go your way will determine your ultimate success when you play this puzzle game online.

In order to reach your selected tower height, you'll need to start stacking up shapes to touch the checkpoints near the top of the screen. To select a shape, simply position the mouse cursor over one of the two shapes being carried by the eyeball creatures in the upper-left corner of the screen, then click the left mouse button to grab it. If you click and immediately let go, you'll be in "stick and click" mode - that means the shape won't fall until you click the mouse button again to drop it. However, if you instead click and hold the left mouse button after selecting and moving the shape around, letting go of the mouse button will immediately cause it to fall.

You can certainly play the puzzle game online without altering the shapes as they appear, but that's not always practical or advisable - rotating shapes gives you the freedom to organize how you see fit, as well as the ability to recover from mistakes. There are several different ways to rotate a shape, using both the keyboard and the mouse - feel free to use whichever suits you best.

After a shape has been placed on a base or another shape, you can influence it slightly with the nudge command. As with rotation, you can nudge with both the mouse and the keyboard.

At any time, you can select any unlocked shape and attempt to move or nudge it. This is usually easiest when the shape is resting on its own and doesn't have other shapes stacked on or otherwise obstructing it - you can still try, but don't expect it to be without risk!

Any time any of your shapes is resting on another shape and touches the checkpoint, a countdown timer will appear - starting at "3," then "2," then "1," and finally locking into place. The shape can be tilting while the countdown continues - so long as it's still touching the checkpoint and the rest of the tower after the "1" is registered, anything goes. However, you can't use a power-up, nudge, or use another shape to keep the tower intact without interrupting the countdown. In other words, you have a lot of influence, but your tower has to "stand" on its own merits long enough to complete the countdown

Each time you drop a shape off the bottom of the screen, you'll be charged with a single "strike" that gets accounted for on the Strike board on the right side of the screen. You can survive up to a total of 15 strikes - that is, 15 individual shapes - before the puzzle game ends. After that, your game is over and you'll receive completion credit up to the last checkpoint you passed. You can always Undo a move that causes you to get a strike, but the strike itself is not removed. Just remember that if you undo a move in Puck's Peak before any shapes fall off-screen, it's a no-harm/no-foul situation.

Puck's Peak • Re: Hesitation and Choppy Play

I agree Completely with You!!! POGO made a Major Mistake changing the Format of Puck's Peak. It use to be FUN, which Pogo claims to be all about. Now it is Very Frustrating. Hard to Play this game when it is "choppy, hesitates" along with Creating "STRIKES" when I have NOT thrown away any peace. I have All Required Updates for this BS New Formats Pogo has Forced on Us Played Members, even have tried using different Browsers, but this & many Other Games remain HORRIBLE. THANKS FOR NOTHING POGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Puck's Peak • Hesitation and Choppy Play

By nznuts » May 15th, 2012, 8:28 am

Puck's Peak still has issues since it was embedded. The latest for me is hesitation and choppy play in game. And no it's not an connection issue. The choppy play makes it all the more difficult when you have a game that requires you to be precise.

Puck's Peak • Re: How do you rate this game Puck's Peak?

By Antlerlady » May 11th, 2012, 8:59 pm

I just think it would be good if Pogo offers these as Mix and Match or premium that you can buy if you like them. I wish they wouldn't put them on the daily ones that everyone needs to try. But that's just my opinion.

Puck's Peak • Negative Posts and Complaints about Pogo on the Forums

By pogo_Maul » May 11th, 2012, 6:02 pm

Due to the many current issues affecting members game play the Pogo Forums are receiving a lot of negative and unconstructive feedback. We are aware of the issues largely related to those unhappy with Embedded Game Pages (EGP), whether it be the design/lack of Pop-ups, or Games loading slowly, not able to continue after one game, or simply not loading at all. We are researching those issues and hope to have solutions in the coming weeks.

Because of the many current, common, and overly repeated complaints, and threats of unsubscribing we are simply going to remove or consolidate such posts as they simply are over burdening our Forum’s community in general. I would like to be clear, we are not ignoring these complaints and the issues that are triggering them. We are simply trying to maintain the forums as a relatively peaceful place where members can communicate in a positive and constructive manner.

Our Mods are here trying to help. If they remove a post it is because they are following Pogo’s and EA’s guidelines. If they feel for any reason that a post is negative or may incite negative responses they are well within their given powers to remove such a post.

Puck's Peak • Pogo is listening! :)

By pogo_Maul » May 10th, 2012, 6:30 pm

We know a lot of our members, Free and Club, have been having various ongoing and continuous issues with using our site for the last several weeks and month. We are working hard to try and narrow down the causes of these wide ranging problems.

The Game Loading and not being able to continue after playing a game are two of the largest issues that we are researching right now. We have been working directly with a few members to try and narrow down the symptoms and possible resolutions.

We have found a few things so far that are preventing players from normal game play, including certain browser add-ons and security settings. In many cases simply resetting the browser to its default settings and disabling add-ons that are not necessary for playing our games will resolve the problem.

We are still gathering information and as we do so, we will try to figure out if there are any adjustments we can make on our end so that these settings and add-ons do not interfere with people’s ability to play on Pogo. In some cases we may need to provide our users with more details on how they can make adjustments on their end so that they can continue playing. More details and information will be provided as they become more solid.

In addition to that, we also continue to look into the issues with Pop-up Game Windows, not being able to purchase Gems, various abuse issues, as well as new and old bugs.

We understand that these last few months with changes to our site, games, and EA Support have been very trying and we are indeed working to improve the experience for our fans. We greatly appreciate your patience.

note: I have locked this post because the issues mentioned are already being discussed by you and our other members in existing topics.

Puck's Peak • WON"T LET ME IN ON THE GAME

By DYELes » May 9th, 2012, 5:00 am

Well I have tried all day to get into the game Puck's Peak will not load for me. I renewed my membership when I came back from snowbirding in the south. I don't play pogo when we are on the road. Which is about 6 mos. out of the year. Had I known that pogo was changing the site I might not have spent 39.99 to renew in fact I don't think I will be renewing next year when I come back. I enjoy playing the games but if I spend most of the time just trying to play then it is a waste of time and money. I can play for free and get upset just as easy when the games won't load and I will still have money in my pocket . Come on POGO fix your problems or refund our money to us. You aren't giving us good service.

That's the indicator that you've got a fully-charged power-up, but you get awarded stars at the end of the game to increase your puck's ability. How many stars you are awarded depends on the mountain you used and whether you completed 500 meters or 1000 meters.

I believe that the puck ability star, rather than the power-up indication star, is what's needed.

I wish that Pogo would use different symbols for these.

Of course, received no score and no daily challenge completion. Before that, went to all three of the so-called 3000 bonus token games & received no bonus. I can get this kind of irritation by simply reading the news out of Washington D.C., without having to pay extra for it. On second thought, I do have to pay extra for it, don't I? Hmmm.

I have noticed that generally when a company that supplies a service to the public is "absorbed" by another, it often starts going south before too long a time. Either the service begins to fail, or the price skyrockets. Different people, different agenda. So, we must ask... Is what we are receiving worth what we are putting up with, or paying out?

Pogo was "absorbed" by EA in 2001. Since then the service hasn't "failed" for everyone, although some have experinced problems with the new embedded games. And I hardly think the price has "skyrocketed". It hasn't gone up in all the time I've been here.

And if you did the bonus token games today, you wouldn't get the tokens as they are only available on Thursdays

Actually, I WOULD have gotten them today as they are part of a Mother's Day special, wherein we are supposed to receive 3000 tokens daily for playing each of three games. Not the same as the Thursday tokens you speak of. And a company does not have to change names to mutate, it simply has to change who is running the ship. I really don't care either way about the imbedded format vs the old one, but I care very much when things do not function correctly, on a frequent basis. As for the "service hasn't failed for everyone", well goodie goodie! As the man said as he went by the tenth floor after jumping off a 20 story building, "so far so good".

Thanks for mentioning the Mother's day special tokens. I never saw those. I'mm off to get my tokens, if I actually GET my tokens.

Edited to add. And indeed I did get them. Happy days
